Costa Rica: Day Four

Today was our first very early start as we woke up before 5:30 am and got ready for our first day at the Sion School in Moravia, as their school begins at 7:00 am.

When we arrived at the school we met delegates from all different Sion schools around the world. We were worried we may not be able to communicate with students from other countries but were surprised when most students spoke English pretty well.

We walked through the halls of the school as the students of the school in Moravia waved and applauded either side – we felt quite strange but very welcomed by this.

We watched a few cultural performances during their assembly, such as dances and songs. After assembly we had our first meeting where we spoke about life in our cities and God in our lives. We then all had more opportunities to talk with and get to know international students as we all ate lunch together in the Cafeteria.

We also convinced the Brazilian students to try vegemite: they did not like it. After lunch we had a second meeting based around problem-solving and teamwork, the activities were sometimes difficult but ultimately fun.

We had a chance to reflect on our trip so far as we led prayer along with Brazil. We all then went to the mall and spent more time with students from the other countries. It was a great day filled with many new friendships and laughter.
